Roadworks all over Telford will cause headaches for drivers this month as improvements are made to roads, footpaths, drainage and lighting. Three schemes start on October 15 including work on the A442 Queensway, which has been scheduled to last for about six weeks.

Councillor Shaun Davies, Telford & Wrekin Council cabinet member for neighbourhood services and co-operative council, said: "We are extremely pleased that we have received support from the Department for Transport that will see £7 million invested in improving our highway network across Telford &, which will last for Wrekin."

On the nights of October 15 and 16, the A442 Queen-sway will be closed beneath the Wombridge Interchange.

From October 17 the four slip roads will be closed to all traffic, and diversions will be in place.

The work will include improvements to the kerbs, resurfacing, safety barrier replacement, and illuminated signs, and will last approximately six weeks.

The Granville roundabout in Muxton and St Georges Road in Donnington will also see roadworks over two weeks from October 15. The roundabout will be re-surfaced along with three major approaches and should be completed within two weeks.

Temporary traffic lights will control the flow of traffic on the roundabout, and the work will be completed on October 26.

A section of St Georges Road will also be re-surfaced at the approach to the Asda roundabout, which will be closed for three nights.

Councillor Davies added: "I would personally like to thank residents and businesses in advance of the work for their patience."

Anyone who needs to contact the council about the work should call (01952) 384000.
