Shed thieves make off with tools – and a kayak
Thieves have escaped with hauls of tools – and even a kayak – after a string of shed break-ins took place across north Shropshire.
The burglaries stem back to the end of September, but three have happened during the past week.
Detectives believe they could be the work of the same gang.
A West Mercia Police spokesman said the most recent happened at Creamore, near Wem, between about 8am and 4.30pm on Thursday.
A locked shed was broken into and a red and grey Black Country kayak was stolen.
Power tools, including an angle-grinder, chop saw, cordless drill and electric tile-cutter, were stolen from a shed in Shrubbery Gardens, Wem, between September 30 and about 8am on October 3.
And between about 9.40am and 2.30pm the previous day another shed in Ellesmere Road was broken into but nothing stolen.
The police spokesman said other incidents took place in Whixhall at the end of September when a Stihl petrol strimmer and a jigsaw were stolen.
He added: "Police are investigating the possibility that the incidents are linked and have appealed for anyone with information or who might have seen suspicious activity in any of the relevant areas to get in touch on 101."
Police said that while sheds are not meant for secure storage, many people did not have a choice but to use them to store items such as tools.
