£2,500 fountain pen on sale in Shropshire
A limited edition fountain pen has gone up for sale in Shropshire with a staggering £2,500 price tag.
The 'Dragon' fountain pen crafted by Italian firm Visconti, is elaborately decorated in red and gold vermeil, a special type of the precious metal.
The expensive writing instrument is on sale exclusively at Write Here in Shrewsbury's High Street and there have only been 888 made worldwide.
John Hall, who owns the specialist pen shop, said that he was delighted to be asked to sell the single pen, which he said was a 'coup' for the county.
"We have built up a good relationship with Visconti, even visiting their head office in Florence, and I am pleased to be the only shop in the UK to have the Dragon pen – it is quite a coup for Shropshire," he said.
"It is a stunning piece of work featuring some amazing detail and we are sure that it will generate a good deal of interest.
"Writing with a good fountain pen is rising in popularity and there are several collectors in the region who we think will be interested in this limited edition piece."
The shop launched the pen at an open evening last night.
