The female driver was found in her saloon car near the Mawley Oak garage just outside Cleobury Mortimer at about 3.40am. Her vehicle had left the road and ended up in a hedge down a ditch.

Firefighters climbed down into the ditch and released the woman from her car. She was taken to hospital, although police say she only suffered minor injuries.

No other vehicles were believed to be involved in the accident.

Inspector Emma Wright, from West Mercia Police, said: "We left the scene at about 4.20am and I don't believe any roads needed to be closed down because of the time and lack of traffic.

"The casualty's car had ended up in a hedge down a ditch. The female suffered minor injuries and was taken to hospital via land ambulance."

Officers from West Mercia Police, paramedics from the West Midlands Ambulance Service and three fire engines and a Shropshire Fire and Rescue Service officer all attended the accident.
