Terry Waite reunited with painting by Shropshire brothers
Former hostage Terry Waite has been reunited with a portrait painted by three Shropshire brothers which he lost after leaving it on a train.
Mr Waite only realised he had
after he got off at Bury St Edmunds, Suffolk, on September 5.
He launched an appeal to find the portrait, which was the work of the Bingham brothers from Bridgnorth. And he was reunited with the painting at Liverpool Street station in London yesterday after it emerged it had been handed in at Ipswich.
The portrait was painted in oils on canvas as part of the Bingham Brothers' People of Our Time series, which also includes the likes of Charlton Heston, Paul Weller, Honeysuckle Weeks, Paul McCartney's brother, Mike, and Noddy Holder.
Brothers David, Ian and Tim Bingham worked collaboratively on all the paintings.
Mr Waite was reunited with the picture after a worker at Greater Anglia Trains, Julie Bedford, remembered it being handed in.
The painting had been sent to the lost property office at Norwich after being found at Ipswich Station.
She personally handed the portrait back to Mr Waite.
He said he was 'absolutely delighted' to get it back.
