They located two men near the premises and arrested them on suspicion of robbery. A quantity of cash was recovered and a blue Vauxhall Astra thought to belong to the suspects, was found nearby.

Police today said staff at the store were threatened but no-one was hurt.

The two men, aged 24 and 19, from the Birmingham area, are in custody with Staffordshire Police.

It is the second time the store has been targeted this year after two masked men burst into the supermarket in July and forced staff to hand over thousands of pounds.

Police want to hear from anyone in the Lodge Lane area prior to 10pm yesterday who spotted any suspicious activity.
