Harry Tuffins in surprise shop deal

Two supermarkets in Shropshire are be sold just seven months after they were bought due to concerns over a lack of competition, the Office of Fair Trading has ruled.

The Midcounties Co-operative has been ordered to sell stores and petrol stations in Bishop's Castle and Craven Arms after an OFT investigation.

The Midcounties Co-operative bought out the Harry Tuffins chain in March for an undisclosed sum. They have also been told to offload outlets in Lydney and Coleford, Gloucestershire.

Supermarket chiefs said that talks are already under way with potential buyers.
