Officials at Ludlow Castle have said a scaled-down event will go ahead next summer, ahead of a major relaunch in 2014.
Only Fools and Horses star John Challis, a patron of the festival, said in a tweet a new event could cost as little as £50,000 to promote.
Organisers of Ludlow Festival announced on Monday that they were winding up the event, which has been a fixture on the town's calendar for more than 50 years.
