The International Plastic Modellers' Society held its annual Scale ModelWorld event at The International Centre in Telford over the weekend.

The event attracted more than 150 traders from as far afield as Russia, Japan and Switzerland.

And the highlight of the show was an appearance from a real Royal Navy Lynx helicopter which helped bring a sense of scale to the event.

The helicopter, which is used operationally around the world, flew into The International Centre car park on Friday and was then wheeled inside the hall to go on display. Its crew, from 815 Naval Air Squadron, were on hand to answer questions about life in the Navy.

A spokesman for the event said: "The show has been held at The International Centre since 1998 but this year, for the very first time, it was held in all four halls.

"The variety and diversity of traders and manufacturers has led to the truism, 'if you can't find it at Scale ModelWorld it isn't available' – a fact well known in the modelling community.

"Over 170 clubs displayed models with every imaginable genre or interest in the modelling world represented somewhere."
