The B5065 Soulton Road will be closed as part of three weeks of work by Severn Trent to update water pipes.

People will also face temporary traffic lights at Wem Industrial Park and short term loss of their water supply.

The work, which is due to start on February 11 and finish on March 1, will be carried out in three stages.

The first stage will see temporary traffic lights between Wem Industrial Park and Church Lane.

The second stage will be between Church Lane and Churchill Drive and the final stage will be between Churchill Drive and Cordwell Park, when the road will be closed.

A spokeswoman for Severn Trent Water said: "Many of the water pipes in Wem have been serving the community for years now.

"This work is essential to make sure we can continue to provide our customers in the area with a reliable supply of drinking water, whilst keeping leaks to a minimum."

She added: "There may be times when we will have to shut off our customers' water supply, but this will be for very short periods."
