A Shropshire councillor manages to keep up with his local news even when he's on the move, thanks to the Shropshire Star app.

Labour councillor Shaun Davies, who represents the Malinslee Ward, for Telford and Wrekin Council, regularly works all over the UK through his job as a solicitor.

But he can still read his favourite newspaper on his iPad, no matter where he is.

"It's a first class app," said Mr Davies, aged 27 and from Telford.

"Because I travel so much, it helps to be able to get hold of a copy of the Shropshire Star even when I'm miles from a local newsagent.

"The app works out cheaper than buying a newspaper each day too".

Mr Davies is a big fan of the app's page-turning technology which allows him to read the newspaper as it appears on the printed page, but with the benefits of using a handheld device.

"I also like the fact that I can download an edition if I want to save a copy," explained Mr Davies.

"The videos really bring the stories to life too."

The Shropshire Star desktop service costs £1.49 per week, £4.99 per month or 69p for one day access. To try out the new service, go to www.shropshirestar.com/digital-subscribe

The app service is a separate package, available at £1.49 per week or £4.99 per month via the App Store. Visit www.shropshirestar.com/app
