Hope House Children's Hospice plans to expand
A charity based in Shropshire has unveiled plans to expand – despite donations dropping by £100,000 over the last year.
Hope House Children's Hospice, based in Morda near Oswestry, provides a service for life-limited children and their families.
Bosses at the hospice now want to expand the building and create a family suite where families can stay. The plans have been submitted to Shropshire Council.
Andy Goldsmith, chief executive, said: "In 2012 our wonderful supporters raised and donated £3.3 million. This is about £100,000 less than the previous year and £500,000 less than our peak in 2008 and 2009.
"Through the sale of donated goods in our shops we raised £475,000 and our lottery raised £250,000.
"Despite continued financial pressures we will be working to increase the awareness of our services within neonatal wards.
"We will also provide more support to families."
