Apple users can enjoy Shropshire Star app on free trial
Readers can now enjoy a two week free trial of the Shropshire Star's digital edition on iPad and iPhone.
With millions of mobile devices given as presents for Christmas, users can sample the number one newspaper for Shropshire for 14 days for free.
If readers follow up the trial by signing up for the monthly package, they pay just £4.99 per month, saving £6.71 on a direct debit print subscription. Readers who subscribe monthly would pay £59.88 over the course of the year, a saving of £80.52 on the print edition. Digital users who prefer to pay weekly can pay £1.49 per week.
The app's page turning technology allows readers to view Britain's fifth biggest selling regional newspaper as it appears on the printed page but with the state of the art benefits of using a handheld device.
Once the app is downloaded from iTunes, iPad and iPhone users can flick through the pages of the most recent electronic edition of the paper.
On the digital offerings, stories are complemented each day with video uploads, which allow readers to watch footage linked to the in-depth news and sport coverage.
Head of digital William Beavis said: "Worldwide, more than 17 million mobile devices were activated on Christmas Day alone.
"It seemed the perfect time to extend the free trial from seven to 14 days so that readers can enjoy their favourite read via the latest technology."
