Davies, who grew up in Wem, was at the town hall yesterday to unveil 'Part of Wem' which consists of 104 individually painted squares that together form an image.

Sarah Evans, a local artist, has led the Unltd Millennium Awards sponsored project over the last year, creating a large image of a hare in the countryside.

The mosaic is made up of individual pieces of work which represent different aspects of Wem, including current businesses and some the town's history.

The project has been created by professional artists, amateurs, children, ladies from a local residential home and a baby.

Davies, whose mother Pauline created one of the squares and who still lives in Wem, said: "I think it's brilliant. I know people from all parts of the community have contributed to it.

"It shows there are some creative people in Wem."

The exhibition, which explains how the project came together, will be on show to the public at Wem Town Hall until February 19.
