Man, 24, stabbed by woman outside Telford pub
A reveller was attacked and stabbed by a woman as he walked between pubs in Telford.
He was this afternoon undergoing surgery after suffering a wound to his stomach in the seemingly unprovoked attack.
The 24-year-old victim's injuries are not thought to be life-threatening but police confirmed he is expected to need an operation and was due to go into theatre today.
They are hunting a woman in her 20s after she struck in Trench Road, near its junction with Stratford Park, between 11.20pm and 11.45pm last night.
The area was cordoned off by police tape today while forensic investigators comb the area for evidence.
Police spokesman Chris Ammonds said the victim and a friend had been walking between two pubs in Trench Road when the woman approached them.
Mr Ammonds said: "It appears the victim and his friend had been drinking in the Duke of York before making their way to the Dun Cow. It is outside the Dun Cow that this assault occurred.
"The victim suffered a stab wound to his stomach during the assault. He was rushed to North Staffordshire Hospital but his injuries are not thought to be life threatening. He is likely to need surgery today.
"Officers investigating this incident are keen to speak to anyone who witnessed it.
"However, they are also keen to speak to anyone who was drinking in the Duke of York or the Dun Cow last night as there is the possibility people may have information that could aid the investigation without actually realising it."
He added they would also like to hear from anyone who saw the men leave the pub about 11pm and anyone who witnessed anything in Trench Road.
The woman police are hunting is white, in her early 20s, about 5ft 8in tall and slim. She was wearing dark leggings, a dark coat and high heels.
