Bridgnorth woman dies on her 40th birthday
A care home manager was found dead on her 40th birthday by her father after he called at her home.
Tributes were this afternoon paid to Debbie Marsh, the manager of the Innage Grange home in Bridgnorth. Miss Marsh had run the home, which cares for 80 people in Innage Lane, for about a year.
She was found on the morning of her birthday at her home in Ironbridge by her father, Michael Marsh. She is believed to have collapsed and died suddenly.
Her funeral is due to take place on Wednesday at Holy Trinity Church, Coalbrookdale. Her family has asked that instead of flowers contributions are made to the Innage Grange Comfort Fund.
David Coull, chief executive of Coverage Care which runs Innage Grange, said: "She was among our youngest managers and her death has sent shock waves through the company. Her family are utterly devastated."
He said they first got to know Miss Marsh a couple of years ago.
"She applied for a job but did not feel ready to make the commitment to come here at that time so we were delighted when she decided to join us almost a year ago to the day she passed away."
Miss Marsh had also worked for the NHS and spent time nursing in intensive care.
Mr Coull said: "She was not only a competent manager but a skilled practitioner and I have no doubt she would have enjoyed a long and positive career with us. She had very positive values. We all come to work for different reasons but after 20 years she was as fresh in her reasons for working with older people as she was on day one."
