Mystery surrounds story of Shropshire stray cat Johnny - registered 120 miles away
Mystery surrounds a stray cat which has surfaced in Shropshire but was actually last registered 120 miles away in Surrey.
Johnny, a neutered Tom, is currently being cared for at Teme Vets in Ludlow.
Staff there are trying hard to reunite him with his owner.
It is believed Johnny's owners used to live in Woking in Surrey but moved up to Ludlow after 2004.
Student veterinary nurse Katie Bates said: "The cat had been microchipped and so we checked with the chipping company and he was registered in 2004 to people in Woking.
"Sadly, the telephone numbers left are now unobtainable and the owners are no longer at the registered address.
Katie added: "We know their names and believe they must have moved up to Ludlow and forgotten to update their microchip company details."
Johnny was found in a back garden in the Whitcliffe area of Ludlow last Friday.
Katie said: "He is a most distinctive cat. He is a sort of grey colour with blond bits and has obviously been very well looked after."
Anyone who thinks Johnny is theirs or who thinks they know the owners can contact Katie or registered veterinary nurses Pip Davies or Lisa Knuffey, at Teme Vets, on (01584) 872147.
