Family pays loving tribute to Shrewsbury crash death woman
The family of a 27-year-old woman who died when her car crashed near Shrewsbury today described her as a 'wonderful, beautiful girl'.
Rachel Maddox, who lived in Meole Brace, Shrewsbury, died when her car left the B5067 Berwick Road at Dunn's Heath at around 10.40am on Saturday, crashing into a fence and tree.
And today her grieving family paid a loving tribute to their 'beautiful star'.
Parents Bob and Jane Maddox, from Bayston Hill, together with brother Andrew and boyfriend Tarek, issued a public thank you to everyone who had provided support and written messages of condolence.
They said: "The family would like to thank everyone for all the support we have received. It is a real comfort to know she has touched so many people's lives.
"All the messages and photos show what a wonderful, beautiful girl she is, no airs and graces, just Rachel being Rachel.
"Rachel is a beautiful star that will be forever in our hearts, always remembered, never will be forgotten."
Miss Maddox worked for Severn Trent Water and today spokeswoman Sarah-Jane Dean said: "We are deeply saddened to hear the news about Rachel.
"Her friends and colleagues at Severn Trent Water would like to offer their condolences to the family."
Police are continuing to investigate the circumstances and renewed their appeal for witnesses to come forward.
A West Mercia Police spokesman said: "We want to hear from anyone who saw the collision or spotted Rachel's black Seat Ibiza being driven along Berwick Road from the direction of Shrewsbury towards Baschurch, shortly before the collision time.
"Please contact Shrewsbury police station by calling 101."
A man has now come forward following the initial police appeal for the driver of a gold Renault Clio who stopped to assist at the scene.
A post-mortem examination was carried out yesterday and a formal identification expected today.
An inquest is likely to be opened over the next few days.
