Family's tributes to tragic Telford boy Jayden McIvor

The family of tragic nine-year-old Jayden McIvor this afternoon released a picture of the youngster and thanked passers-by who tried to save him.

Jayden, of Hurleybrook Way in Leegomery, was knocked over as he crossed Haybridge Road on Saturday afternoon.

His grandmother Jennifer Kenward this afternoon thanked local people for their help and for their support since the tragedy.

"We are overwhelmed by the words of comfort we have received from everyone," she said. "I would like to say a big thank you to everyone who was there who tried to help him. God bless you Jay, you will be forever in my heart."

Students at Millbrook Primary School, where Jayden was in Class 4, are compiling a memory book. Ola Mikolajczyk wrote on behalf of herself and her classmates in Class 8: "Jayden was a good friend, he was kind, always happy and had a lots of caring friends all around him.

"Everybody from our school will really miss our good friend. He will always be in our hearts."

And Haashim Mehmood who is in Class 7, said: "RIP Jayden, I will always remember you. Our thoughts are with the family at this sad time."

Theresa Grevatt, whose son is in Class 4, said: "My heart goes out to the family. It's very upsetting for all."

Residents have started a collection towards the cost of the funeral, putting a tin in Jules Convenience Store on Haybridge Road.

A 19-year-old man has been released on police bail after being arrested in connection with the accident.
