Shrewsbury pub theft case man John Cattermole hands himself in
A former landlord wanted by police in connection with an alleged theft from the pub he ran in Shrewsbury almost three years ago has handed himself in, police said today.
Following an appeal on the BBC Crimewatch programme earlier this month, John Cattermole handed himself in to Shrewsbury Police Station yesterday.
The 57-year-old was arrested on suspicion of theft and attempting to pervert the course of justice.
He has since been released on conditional bail pending further inquiries.
Police said a warrant was issued for Mr Cattermole's arrest after he failed to answer bail in May 2010.
Mr Cattermole had been arrested on suspicion of theft and attempting to pervert the course of justice the previous month when he reported that The Monkmoor public house, where he was licensee at the time, had been burgled.
Police Constable Jason Tierney, the investigating officer, thanked both the public and the media for their help in tracing Mr Cattermole.
"Mr Cattermole presented himself at Shrewsbury Police Station following appeals on Crimewatch and in other media and I wish to thank those who published those appeals and the members of the public who called in as a result," Constable Tierney said.
