Ross McIvor told how little Jayden would go out of his way to help others – and how he had been taken from his family too soon.

Mr McIvor's tribute was read at Jayden's funeral in Wellington this afternoon.

Pastor Martin Charlesworth spoke on behalf of the family and thanked everyone for their support.

He said: "We must treasure the memories of Jayden's bright, outgoing, caring and positive personality. He will never be forgotten."

His father Ross described his son as a 'funny little boy who would talk to everyone'. He said: "Jayden loved going to football and playing on his computer. His smile cheered up anyone who was sad."

"Jayden once asked me for 50p of his pocket money to give to a homeless man. He made me so proud; he always wanted to help others.

"Jayden was snatched away tragically so much earlier than he should ever have been."

Jayden's funeral was led by Reverend Alistair Wood who said: "It is lovely to see so many pictures of Jayden and how much he achieved in such a short time."

Yellow ribbons decorated the railings outside Jayden's school, home and the scene of the tragedy. Yellow ribbon bouquets and daffodils decorated the church.

The service began to the Westlife song I'll See You Again. All things bright and beautiful was also sung after Jayden's headteacher read the poem Daffodils by William Wordsworth.

Poignant words on a poetry tribute with these flowers at Jayden's funeral today

Mr Martin Lightwood said it was 'a fitting tribute' to a boy who loved poetry and daffodils.

The song 'Who am I?' by Casting Crowns was played as the congregation had a few moments quiet reflection before Amazing Grace was played as the family said their goodbyes.

Donations were raised for Midlands Air Ambulance.

Jayden was a class four pupil at Millbrook Primary School in Leegomery when he was struck by a Ford Focus, which had hit a Citroen Grand Picasso, which had stopped for the red light.

An inquest into Jayden's death has been adjourned until May 16.
