£7,000 haul stolen in raid on Shropshire cottage
Burglars made off with a £7,000 haul including precious jewellery following a daytime raid on a cottage in Shropshire, it has been revealed.
The thieves stole valuable rings, earrings and watches after gaining access to the home in Worfield, near Bridgnorth.
Police have this afternoon launched an investigation into the incident.
They said the most valuable item stolen was a diamond cluster dress ring in 18ct gold, set with six main diamonds and multiple of smaller diamonds. Another item stolen was a Victorian mahogany travel box containing glass perfume bottles.
The burglary is believed to have taken place on Monday afternoon and police have appealed for anyone who saw any suspicious activity or has information about the incident to contact them as a matter of urgency.
A spokesman for West Mercia Police said: "We would like to hear from anyone who spotted suspicious activity in the Worfield area which might be connected to this incident. The home was broken into between noon and 4pm.
"Some of the property stolen, especially the jewellery, is very distinctive and anyone offered such items for sale in dubious circumstances, should also contact Bridgnorth police station on 101."
Also stolen in the raid were two pairs of gold hoop earrings, two Rotary ladies wristwatches on leather straps, an Omega ladies watch, two Victorian ladies fob watches and a Toshiba laptop.
The haul is believed to have been worth an estimated £7,000, the spokesman said.
