Aldi Stores Limited has earmarked one hectare area of land off Parkway at Madeley Court, Madeley, for its new 16,000sq ft (1,500sq m) food store.

And members of Telford & Wrekin Council's plans board are expected to approve the scheme when they meet on Wednesday.

The site, which was formerly home to Madeley Court Secondary School and Leisure Centre, was left vacant when the remaining leisure facilities on site were moved to the new Abraham Darby Learning Community last year.

In a report to the Telford & Wrekin plans board members, planning officers recommend approving the scheme as it will add choice for shoppers in Telford.
