Shropshire sees snow blow back in
[gallery] Winter is showing no sign of letting up with more snow and freezing temperatures expected this week.
Shropshire woke to a blanket of snow on Sunday, with between two and five centimetres (0.8ins to 2ins) falling and commuters today faced ice and fog on their drive to work.
Forecasters said conditions would remain cold throughout the day with it turning icy again overnight and more fog developing into tomorrow morning.
Craig Snell, forecaster for the Met Office said: "It will stay cold all week, with showers throughout today and tomorrow across Shropshire, with the risk of hail and sleet, turning wintry over the hills." The Met Office issued a yellow alert for ice across Shropshire today.
Scotland and the north of England are expected to see up to eight inches of snow build up between tonight and Wednesday morning, with temperatures dropping as low as minus 15C (5F) overnight.
Wales, the Midlands, East Anglia and parts of the South East may also wake to a covering of up to an inch of snow on Wednesday morning.
Today police closed the A66 across the Pennines between Bowes, County Durham, and Stainmore, Cumbria, because of heavy snow.
Leeds Bradford International Airport was also closed this morning due to snow.
The airport was shut at about 6am, causing a number of flights to be delayed or cancelled, including those from Heathrow and Glasgow and those going to Amsterdam, Brussels, Dublin and Belfast.
In Shropshire, night-time temperatures are expected to hover around freezing all week, with the possibility of sleet on Friday night.
Temperatures could fall even lower next week, with lows of -7C (19F) predicted.
