Online readers get Shropshire Star Android app
Following the success of its apps for iPad and iPhone, the Shropshire Star has now launched a new app especially for Android devices.
Android users can try out the app with a two-week free trial simply by downloading it from the Google Play Store.
The app's page-turning technology allows users to read Shropshire's favourite newspaper as it appears on the printed page, but in an electronic format.
Editions of the Shropshire Star are available to subscribers within minutes of publication, featuring the latest news, sport and opinion enhanced with exclusive video content.
What's more, once an edition is available you can download it to read anywhere – even when you're offline.
Other benefits include access to the most recent 30 editions of the Shropshire Star, a smart keyword search facility which allows users to find stories on a particular subject, and the ability to download specific pages to your device.
The Android app, which costs £4.99 a month or £44.99 a year, joins the Express & Star app for iPad and iPhone plus a desktop edition for PC and laptop users.
MNA Media's head of digital Will Beavis said: "The launch of our new Android app is the next step for us in extending an electronic version of our print products to a mobile audience.
"With a Kindle Fire version just around the corner we'll shortly be catering for the majority of mobile users."
MNA Media now has almost 1,000 subscribers to its apps and digital editions across Shropshire Star and Express & Star.
The Shropshire Star's Kindle Fire app will also be launched on the e-reader tablet device within the next couple of weeks.
