The 11,000 volt line was discovered hanging just eight foot above the path between Pool Hill Road and Station Road in Doseley.

The area was cordoned off by the fire service just after 12.45pm. Crews made the area safe for residents and dog walkers while they waited for Western Power to arrive.

Jocelyn Honeywood, spokeswoman for Western Power, said no homes lost their power supply but 1,500 residents would lose power for two hours when the cable was later repaired.
