Doubts on HSBC future in county town
The future of the last bank in a Shropshire town is still uncertain despite reassurances from bosses, it was claimed today.

The HSBC bank has said its branch in Bishop's Castle is safe for now but Councillor Charlotte Barnes, who represents the town on Shropshire Council, is not so sure.
She claimed HSBC was the only 'big bank' not to pledge to keep a branch open if it was the last in a particular town.
Last year she collected an ultimately unsuccessful 800-name petition which called for the town's branch of Barclays to remain open.
She said today: "I have to report that, while other big banks have signed an agreement that the last one in a town will stay open, HSBC has not signed." No-one was today available to comment at HSBC.
