The pipe burst in Prees Heath, near Whitchurch in the early hours of yesterday morning.
Severn Trent said it received reports of a burst pipe at around 6.20am in a field next to the A49. Engineers restored the water supply by 9.15am.
The incident caused some rush-hour delays to motorists travelling on the A49.
One resident described the issue as frustrating and said people were not able to have a shower or hot drink before they left for work.
