Amateur photographer Tim Wright had a surprise when he visited Blists Hill with his family and spotted this picture of a building looking shocked.

The building is actually part of an engine house, but staff at the museum say they often get people laughing at its appearance, which appears to show eyes, a nose and an open mouth.

Pictures of buildings with human characteristics have become an internet favourite, with galleries being distributed across the world.

And this building in Ironbridge is set to become the latest to be added to the list.

Mr Wright said: "It was down the bottom of the town by the foundry, on your right as you walk down as part of the buildings that have fencing around them; it was one of them.

"I was just walking back up the hill when I noticed it."

He said he noticed that the windows looked like eyes, the door like a mouth and a pipe sticking from the middle of it as a nose.

He said: "It was quite funny.

"We had a bit of a laugh about it because it even had a nose.

"I've been down there lots of times and never noticed it before."

Blists Hill director Paul Gossage said a little imagination is all that is needed to transform the side of the building.

He said: "Visitors to Blists Hill Victorian Town are often amused when they see what they perceive to be a face.

"It is said that the two windows look like the eyes, a pipe forms the nose and the door represents the mouth and, with a little imagination, you can see the features of an astonished face."

It's not the first time a building has been noticed for looking like it has a face.

Two years ago, a house in Swansea had its 15 minutes of fame when locals noticed it looked like Adolf Hitler.

It has become part of a number of internet galleries of buildings from across the world that show off buildings with human characteristics.
