Mr Bean, star of ITV This Morning and Channel 4's What's Cooking, launched the Brompton Cookery School and Brompton B&B with his wife, Jenny.

More than 100 people from around the UK attended a gala launch and Mr and Mrs Bean said they were thrilled that so many had supported it. The couple have also run the New Inn, in Baschurch, for around 10 years.

They secured the Brompton Cookery School and Brompton B&B, on the National Trust's Attingham Estate, at Atcham in December.

Mr Bean said: "We have been working terrifically hard to revamp the rooms in the Brompton B&B and guests were thrilled by them at the official launch. The cookery school shines the spotlight on great local producers and great local artisans, with demonstrations by myself and people like Robert Swift, the Master Baker from Ludlow."

Mrs Bean said the launch had been great fun. She said: "We're very pleased that people have given us so much support and we're now looking forward to booking even more people onto cookery school classes.

"People seem to really enjoy learning to cook from Marcus and we've got a great programme booked."

Mr Bean added the cookery school had proved popular in recent months and there were scores of further courses throughout the year.

He said: "I thoroughly enjoy showing people how to cook: I get a real buzz from seeing people improve.

"It's great fun working with Philip Schofield and Holly Willoughby on ITV's This Morning and showing them various dishes – people locally really seem to enjoy learning how to cook better."
