The event will take place on Saturday and Sunday, based in the town's castle, and feature hundreds of beers from across the region.

There will also be a display of classic cars for fans to look over.

Today festival operations director Beth Heath said: "The festival is so much more than great beer, fantastic music, delicious food and vintage vehicles.

"We also have free talks and demonstrations for young and old alike so people can get stuck in and have a go.

"It's like a beer festival, but better. People can look forward to around 200 real ales, 70 passionate local food and drink producers, toe-tapping live music and up to 200 spectacular classic cars."

The festival, which is the sister event of Ludlow's famous food and drink festival in September, was launched to help local traders.

It regularly attracts around 8,000 people and Mrs Heath said this year's was likely to be the biggest and best yet.

She said: "Everybody is welcome. We hope that people from across the region will turn up to enjoy the fun.

"We've got a great line-up with plenty of beer, lots of great local food and plenty of entertainment.

"There will also be chef demonstrations from some of our finest local chefs – it promises to be an amazing weekend and we hope plenty of people will turn up to enjoy the fun."

Festival chairman Phil Maile said an enjoyable weekend was in prospect.

He said: "It seems like only yesterday that we launched the Ludlow Spring Festival.

"Our idea was to celebrate the joys of beer, bread and bangers – as well as the finest vintage automobiles from across Ludlow and further afield.

"In our first year, we welcomed around 4,000 people for an action-packed weekend. This year, the figure is likely to go much, much higher.

People can look forward to 180 gorgeous classic cars, 65-plus exhibitors and more than 180 real ales.

"The Ludlow Spring Festival is a celebration of all that's good about Ludlow and we're looking forward to welcoming the crowds."
