Thousands turn out for Shropshire truck show
Thousands of people poured through the gates of the West Mid Showground for Shropshire's annual truck show – featuring Coronation Street star Craig Charles.
The family event – held at the showground in Shrewsbury for the first time this year after organisers moved the event from Oswestry – saw an increase in trucks, trade stands and camping spaces to meet the growing demand from enthusiasts.
It has become one of the largest in the region, featuring a showcase of the truck industry alongside family entertainment.
Hundreds of trucks were on display as well as the latest trucking accessories.
There were also adrenalin pumping truck displays featuring a monster truck 'showdown' between 'Podzilla' and 'Swamp Thing'.
Other attractions included a chance to ride the 'Red Dragon' monster truck and a crash rescue recovery demonstration.
Former Red Dwarf and Coronation Street star Charles also made an appearance at the show.
Jason Lunn, one of the organisers of the event, said it could not have gone any better. He said: "We are all absolutely over the moon. Oswestry has been very good to us over time, but we were getting bigger and bigger and we have had to move to the showground in Shrewsbury.
"The crowd has followed us and it has been a huge success so I would like to thank everyone who has helped us and to everyone who has supported us.
"There has been something for all the family and despite a few showers, we actually managed to avoid the worst of the weather so everyone is very happy."
Mr Lunn said the undoubted highlight of the weekend was Charles' appearance.
He said: "What a superstar Craig was. He came along and was so interested in everything he spent hours longer here than he was meant to, but said he couldn't help himself.
"He met everyone who wanted to see him, he signed autographs, posed for pictures and got really involved in the whole spirit of the occasion. It is so nice when you have one of these celebrity appearances and they turn out to be better than you could ever even imagine.
"We have had a great time of it in Oswestry and we were sad to leave but we are equally as delighted to have established in Shrewsbury and hope that we will be back here next year for more of the same."
Also at the show, which started in 1997, was a range of trade stands showing off a selection of stands from businesses from across Wales and the West Midlands.
Mr Lunn added: "We are often described as the friendliest truck show around and the event has attracted record numbers of both trucks and visitors in recent years.
