Former town teacher killed in road smash

A former teacher from the Welshpool area has been killed in a road accident.

Jennifer Jones, 65, died following the accident on the M56, near Frodsham, in Cheshire.

She was a passenger in a car which was involved in a collision on the M56 eastbound carriageway near Hapsford, junction 14.

The woman, who was travelling with four members of her family, was airlifted to the Countess of Chester Hospital where she later died from her injuries.

Another of the passengers remains in hospital being treated for serious injuries while the other three have since been discharged after receiving minor injuries.

In a brief tribute from the family of Mrs Jones, she was described as a deeply loved wife, mother, and grandmother, and an active and valued member of her local community.

Following the accident, which happened on May 23, all three lanes were closed as emergency services dealt with the incident.
