Terror police arrest Shrewsbury man over attempted murder of officers
Anti-terrorism police have arrested a 25-year-old man in Shropshire over the attempted murder of two police officers during a Belfast bomb attack.
Detectives swooped on an address in Meole Brace, Shrewsbury, in the early hours of Saturday and the man has now been flown back to Northern Ireland where he was still being questioned today.
The arrest has been made after two pipe bombs were thrown at officers responding to an emergency 999 call in the Crumlin Road area of Belfast on Tuesday.
They were attacked as they got out of their vehicle but escaped injury after diving for cover.
A major investigation was launched and a 27-year-old woman was arrested in north Belfast on Wednesday. She remains in custody after police were granted a time extension to question her.
A 62-year-old woman became the third suspect arrested by detectives in connection with the case. She was detained in north Belfast yesterday morning.
