Richard and Simon Thacker are closing the Pola saying they are being squeezed by multi-screen entertainment complexes.
They said making the switch to digital technology would have cost them £130,000.
The last films to be shown at the two screen cinema in the town centre will be Fast and Furious 6 at 7.15pm tonight and The Big Wedding at 7pm.
Richard Thacker inherited the cinema management from his father Charlie who was involved since the 1950's until his death in 2004.
