Hundreds of people turned out for Georgia Williams' funeral

Young volunteers at AFC Telford United will have their future efforts rewarded with the trophy.

Georgia, 17, whose body was found in woods in North Wales two weeks ago, was part of the matchday safety team and had been involved with the club since she was about seven.

Mark Berry, the club's director for fan and community liaison, said the idea for the award – which will probably be called the United for Georgia Trophy – had come from the supporters' group Forza.

He said: "They came to the board of directors and said they would like to set it up, and of course we said yes. It's the supporters wanting to give something back to their own."

He said the award would recognise the efforts of an under-18 volunteer at the club and would be presented annually.

Jamie Reynolds, 22, of Avondale Road, Wellington, Shropshire, has appeared in court charged with Georgia's murder.
