Sixteen-year-old Ben, from Walsall, died hours after being stabbed in the leg outside a Smethwick club when violence broke out at a party.

Wolverhampton Crown Court heard evidence from two organisers of the party at the Smethwick Home Guard and Old Comrades club.

One of those, 17-year-old Kevin Samuels, had been friends with Ben for around six weeks before his death in the early hours of July 28.

He said he was in the Oldbury Road club when news of the stabbing spread.

Mr Samuels told the jury yesterday: "I heard something about a row and someone had got stabbed.

"I went into the entrance asking who got stabbed, people didn't know. I went outside to speak to my mum and I heard someone got stabbed again, over by the temple.

"I ran over there to see what was going on, and Ben was on the floor. I saw blood everywhere."

When asked by prosecuting solicitor Mr Michael Burrows QC if he spoke to Ben, Mr Samuels replied: "He said 'I'm sorry Kevin I'm sorry, I'm dying'."

Meanwhile co-organiser 18-year-old Zoe Buckle told the jury she had heard rumours earlier in the night that someone had brought a gun to the party.

Andy Ly, aged 18, of Fulmer Walk, and Omar Robinson, 19, of Rann Close, both Ladywood, deny murder.

They also deny violent disorder along with Jordan Campbell, 18, of Portland Road, Edgbaston; Kwamae Phillips, 18, of Gillott Road, Edgbaston; Tahj Mills, 18, of Waterside Street, West Bromwich; Tobias Blake, 20, of Kelsall Croft, Ladywood, and Aaron Parkins, 19, whose address cannot be reported for legal reasons.

The trial continues.
