Hotel helps couple relive big day
A Shropshire couple got to relive their wedding day – more than 20 years after the event.
Kerry and Andy Maxwell were one of the first couples to get married at the then newly-refurbished Valley Hotel in Ironbridge.
And now they have been back, with 25 guests, for a celebratory meal after winning a competition to mark the hotel's first quarter-century.
Phillip and Lesley Casson, who own the Valley Hotel, set up a competition to share its anniversary with one lucky couple.
Mrs Casson, said: "We were amazed at the response we received to the competition. However, when we read the entry from Kerry and Andrew Maxwell we decided they were the ideal winners as they were one of the first couples to enjoy their wedding here after all our hard work."
The couple celebrated their marriage at the venue on June 22, 1991.
Mr Maxwell, 48, of The Rock, Telford, said: "We have lovely memories of our reception, which we believe was one of the first to be held in the Severn Suite after the refurbishment. We remember Phil Casson in particular being very hands-on."
Mrs Casson added: "We are delighted the Maxwells will be able to help us celebrate our silver anniversary, which would not be possible without the hard work of our wonderful staff."
