Two injured in Telford crash
[gallery] Two people were taken to hospital today following a crash involving two cars and a motorcycle near Telford.
The crash happened on the B4394 Shawbirch Road by the The Grove restaurant.
An off-duty paramedic came across the incident and dealt with the injured until help arrived.
A man was taken to Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Birmingham by Midlands Air Ambulance with serious chest injuries and a fractured arm after being cut from a car by the fire service.
Steve Parry, a spokesman for West Midlands Ambulance Service, said: "A man in his 20s was trapped in the car. He was released and treated for serious chest and abdominal injuries together with a fractured arm.
"The patient was given pain relief treatment and immobilised with the use of a neck collar and placed on a spinal board before being airlifted to the Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Birmingham.
"The driver of the second car, a man in his 40s, was treated for neck, back and shoulder pain. He was given pain relief before being conveyed to the Royal Shrewsbury Hospital by ambulance."
The road was closed following the accident at 9.40am while the vehicles were removed from the scene.
Chris Ammonds, a spokesman for West Mercia Police, said: "It is believed there were two cars involved in the collision, and also a motorbike. The road was closed at the Charlton junction and a diversion was in place. There was a lot of debris on the road and both vehicles had to be lifted off to be removed."
Police have asked witnesses to the accident to call on the non emergency number 101.
