Oswestry orthopaedic hospital planning to extend day surgery
Plans to extend day surgery at a hospital in Shropshire, improving facilities and increasing the number of day case patients, have been revealed.
The three-year business plan for Robert Jones and Agnes Hunt Orthopaedic Hospital at Gobowen, near Oswestry, includes a general pledge to reduce the time patients stay in hospital.
It also aims to develop a new day case ward and day theatre facilities.
Already half the patients at the specialist hospital receive care as day cases.
The business plan says: "We will reduce the time patients stay in hospital, increase day cases and shorten stays, develop a new, 23-hour ward and day theatre facilities."
In the annual report, chief executive Wendy Farrington Chadd said: "In the last year we reduced our length of stay. This has allowed us to treat more patients."
