Shifnal Carnival in pictures
[gallery] People lined the streets of Shifnal for the town's annual carnival - a welcome show of support after fears were raised this year's event could be the last.
The parade started at about 2.45pm on Saturday, following its usual route from Admiral's Way to Aston Street.
It was led by The Queen, Chloe-Louise Trotman, 15, and her princesses in their specially-designed float.
The Birmingham Irish Pipes and Drums band and samba band Oya Batucada played during the carnival procession, which featured 13 colourful floats.
The event was hailed a big success by the small team of organisers.
Carnival committee chairman Angela Mullet, said: "It went very, very well. The sun stayed out for us and the Queen and her princesses all looked absolutely stunning in their outfits.
"The queen's float had an enchanted forest theme and it was a real hit, with everybody commenting on it.
"I'm very pleased that it went so well with out any problems."
A street collection during the day's festivities has raised £1,300 which will go towards carnival funds.
The Freddie Warwick cup for best float was awarded to Shifnal Flower Club for its 'home sweet home' themed offering. The cup was donated by Pat Collins, who staged this year's fun fair.
The carnival has been running for more than 40 years.
A small team of organisers put on this year's extravaganza - but they warned that the weekend's event could prove to be the last carnival in the town unless a clutch of new committee members come forward.
There are currently just six people on the committee.
Mrs Mullett said: "We managed to secure some help but it requires a lot of organising to close the roads."
She said it needed at least 15 people to help run the event – and currently had just five committee members.
