Fiona Bruce films Antiques Roadshow at Gregynog Hall
[gallery] Thousands of people from across the region descended on a historic property to watch television star Fiona Bruce record two episodes of her hit series Antiques Roadshow.
More than 3,000 people flocked through the gates of Gregynog Hall at Tregynon, near Newtown, yesterday, many armed with family heirlooms to be valued by one of the show's 28 experts who were on hand.
Fiona, who has presented the show for the last six years, said she was delighted to be in Montgomeryshire, which she visits regularly on family holidays.
She said: "Gregynog Hall is one of the most fascinating places in the whole of Wales and I am delighted to be here. I have filmed a show here in the past and as soon as I was asked for ideas where I would like to go to film the new series, I jumped at the chance to come back.
"The Davies sisters who lived here collected a whole selection of art during their lives much of which is incredibly valuable and now on show in the National Museum of Wales, so this really is an ideal location."
Fiona says her favourite places are in the area. She said: "One of my dear friends lives in Welshpool and so I often come for breaks in the area. I love walking through Montgomery, having a tea in the cafe and walking up to the castle there. I also love Berriew and the countryside around Gregynog."
Despite the persistent rain and strong wind, hundreds of people queued for more than half an hour to meet experts.
