The Ironbridge Park and Ride will reopen on Saturday as tourists are expected to flock to the World Heritage Site over the school holidays.

The service will run every day from Saturday for the six-week summer holiday period. It will continue to run every weekend until October 26.

The 250-space park and ride site is located just off the A4169 Ironbridge Bypass and is signed from all major approach roads to the gorge including junction 6 of the M54.

Councillor Hilda Rhodes, Telford & Wrekin Council's cabinet member for transport, said: "The Ironbridge Gorge really comes into its own in the summer holidays with lots of exciting events for everyone to do and the park and ride means people can avoid the hassle and stress of finding a parking space."

The sat nav postcode for the park and ride is TF4 3QE.

The service is free to park and free to ride operating every 12 minutes with the first bus at 9am and the last bus returning at 5.36pm.

Keith Myatt, Arriva Midlands regional marketing and communications manager, said: "We are aware that many customers have been inconvenienced by the lengthy closure of Jiggers Bank and will welcome the reopening of the road making travelling on services 77 and 88 much easier."

The reopening of Jiggers Bank also means that service 77 Telford Town Centre – Coalbrookdale – Ironbridge) and service 88 (Telford Town Centre – Ironbridge – Broseley – Much Wenlock) will no longer need to take a diversion.
