Bat fears at Telford food venue delay revamp
Work on an extension to a car park at a fast food restaurant in Telford was disrupted after fears were raised that bats were living in nearby trees.
The work at McDonald's in Donnington was stopped briefly before a survey revealed that no wildlife was in the trees.
The trees were eventually removed due to structural issues and work on the extension is now continuing.
Russell Griffin, a spokesman for Telford & Wrekin Council, said: "The work to extend a car park at the McDonald's in Donnington had a brief pause in works to allow an arboricultural assessment to be undertaken.
"This revealed a few additional trees with structural issues which needed to be removed, in agreement with Telford & Wrekin Council tree officers, and prior to their removal a bat and nesting bird survey was undertaken to make sure that wildlife was not affected."
