Christine Bleakley has fun filming at Whittington Castle

She's graced our television screens in dazzling dresses and glamorous jewellery – but Dancing on Ice presenter Christine Bleakley took on a very different assignment on a visit to Shropshire over the weekend.

Miss Bleakley donned a headscarf and a 15th century-style dress as part of filming for her new ITV1 series Country Roads when she visited Whittington Castle, near Oswestry.

The presenter also climbed on board a small currach boat and paddled nervously around the moat at the castle while the cameras rolled.

And – as these pictures show –she clearly had a blast, laughing with her colleagues in the boat and wearing an almost permanent smile throughout her stay.

Her visit coincided with the castle's re-enactment weekend, and Miss Bleakley had plenty of kind words for her hosts.

She said: "I have been to Shropshire before but not to Whittington – it is just beautiful."

Castle manager Sue Ellis said producers had approached the castle about filming six weeks ago. She said Miss Bleakley had been a pleasure to work with.
