The service will take place at St Peter's Collegiate Church, St Peter's Square, Wolverhampton, at 12.30pm and fans are welcome to attend.

Wolves players wore black armbands at Saturday's opening home game against Gillingham, which they won 4-0 and captain Sam Ricketts placed Waggy's number 11 shirt behind the goal at the North Bank end of the pitch.

The Molineux crowd of 19,102 joined a minute's applause in respect of the popular ex-player, who died at his home in Tettenhall last Tuesday at the age of 70.

Wagstaffe's family and several of his former Wolves team-mates were paraded on the pitch before the game, including Phil Parkes, Geoff Palmer, Derek Parkin, John McAlle, Kenny Hibbitt, Steve Daley, Danny Hegan, John Richards, Mel Eves and Phil Nicholls.

Waggy, who played for Wolves from 1964-76, was one of the club's greatest wingers of all time. Making 404 appearances for Wolves, scoring 31 goals, he won promotion to the top flight in 1967, the Texaco Cup in 1971 and the League Cup in 1974, also appearing in the UEFA Cup final in 1972, when he scored one of the goals.

Wolves head coach Kenny Jackett said: "It was a fantastic tribute.

"I met his family before the game and to get a tribute like that shows what a popular player he was and will last long in the memory of everyone there.

He said it was a very fitting tribute and showed what a 'great servant and a great player he was.'
