Sisters are inspired by bone marrow gift to their father
Two women have signed up to be bone marrow donors just weeks after an anonymous donor saved the life of their dad.
Lucy Griffiths, 27, and her sister Caitlin, 22, from Hanmer, between Whitchurch and Ellesmere, said it was an easy decision to join the register.
Mr Griffiths, 57, was diagnosed with leukaemia in September last year.
Blood cancer charity Anthony Nolan found him a match and his transplant was in February. Mr Griffiths said: "I was only 56 when I was diagnosed, and you never expect that to be your limit. But I've been given another chance, and I've got my donor to thank for that."
Two of his three daughters signed up to the Anthony Nolan register. His eldest daughter Hayley, 30, was outside of the age restriction so unable to sign up.
Lucy said: "When we found out dad needed a transplant, there was no question about me and my sister signing up to the register.
"I had researched the donation process, but having seen what dad had gone through, donating would be a walk in the park, compared to the months of chemotherapy and the recovery time he faced."
