Round six of the Red Bull Pro Nationals was staged at the iconic Shropshire circuit, near Wem, on Saturday and yesterday.

The event was promoted by e22 Sports and spokesman Sean Lawless said it was hoped the event would return next year.

He said: "The crowds turned out and it was a successful weekend. We always get a good turnout. We have been here since 2009 and we hope to be back next year."

MBO Sport Yamaha's Kristian Whatley managed to master the unforgiving track, including its infamous hill, to maintain his perfect series record and lift the MX1 title with one round still to go.

Irishman Graeme Irwin, making his debut in the MX1 class, won the final Pro-moto of the day to secure second for the weekend ahead of 25-year-old Devon rider Alex Snow.

The series finale will be held at Culham Park, Oxfordshire, on September 21 and 22.
