Shake-up for Shropshire bus services launched

The changes include new routes, increased services and different timetables. Some of the changes have been made following new tendering from Shropshire Council and Telford & Wrekin Council and some as a result of feedback from customers.

In the Oswestry and north Shropshire area changes include a new timetable for the 53 route and the 449 route, extra services on the X53 and minor changes to commercial journeys.

The 401 service from Oswestry to Aston Way has also been re-numbered the 400 with a new route and timetable.

The Oswestry to Shrewsbury number 70 bus route has also been revised following feedback from customers.

The service will be diverted along Cabin Lane and Harlech Road – but will no longer serve Unicorn Road.

It will also be diverted via the B4396 off the A5 at Knockin Heath to serve the Knockin Heath caravan park bus stop.

Keith Myatt communications manager of Arriva Midlands said: "We're pleased to make these changes to service 70 which shows we have listened to feedback from our customers and other residents in the area who will now be able to travel regularly on the 70."

In Telford a new Sunday service has been introduced between Telford Town Centre and Brookside.

It will run every 30 minutes between 9.55am and 5.05pm.

There have also been changes to the route and timetable of the number seven service between Newport and Wellington New College on schooldays and alterations to the services, 11A, 22A, 12, 23, 25, 77 and the X44.

All changes came into force yesterday and new timetable leaflets will be available soon from libraries in the county.
