Wellington one-way system ends as roadworks coming to an end
Roadworks and a temporary one way system have been lifted in Wellington, after a month of diversions and delays.
Resurfacing on four roads that form the town's Ring Road has caused misery to commuters and traders since it started on August 5.
Commuters have been plagued by 17 separate sets of road works across the Telford area this summer.
Russell Griffin, spokesman for Telford & Wrekin Council, said: "The temporary one-way system around Wellington Town centre finished today.
"A number of temporary Stop and Go signs will remain in place throughout the town and carriage way maintenance in Glebe Street is set to continue."
Roadworks in Telford have been organised to coincide with the quieter summer period, when schools are on holiday.
Council officials insist that all roadwork and maintenance in Wellington will be completed by the end of next week.
Adam Barsby, a sales assistant at Jaynes Fishing Tackle and Gun Shop in Market Street, Wellington, said: "While traders will be pleased that the roadworks have finally come to an end, it has come too late for us.
"Our busiest time is during the school holiday and the road closure really hit us, but generally people in Wellington seem happier that at least traffic is moving around the town again."
